Gas Leak Detection Systems

Continuous gas monitoring for personnel and asset protection. Detect leaks early, raise clear alarms and connect the response to your plant’s safety systems.

Early warning for industrial gas installations

Fixed gas detector — sensor selection depends on the target gas

A gas leak detection system monitors hazardous gas concentrations in industrial facilities. Detectors communicate with a control panel or plant PLC/SCADA system, enabling early warnings and configured safety actions to help protect people, equipment and the environment.

Key features

  • Continuous, 24-hour gas monitoring
  • Sensitive measurement and rapid response to gas leaks
  • Programmable low and high alarm levels
  • Visual and audible alarm indication
  • Relay outputs for shutdown commands and safety interlocks
  • Modbus communication and 4–20 mA signal options for PLC/SCADA integration
  • Certified field-device options for hazardous-area installations

Target gases, alarm actions and communication options depend on the system design. Hazardous-area installations require appropriately certified devices for the intended location.

Applications

  • Pressure Reducing & Metering Stations (PRMS)
  • City Gas Distribution stations
  • Industrial manufacturing plants
  • Boiler houses
  • Gas compressor stations
  • LNG and CNG facilities
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Gas metering and regulating stations

From early detection to coordinated response

Detect

Fixed detectors monitor the target gas continuously. Natural Gas installations use sensors configured for methane detection.

Alert

When preset alarm levels are reached, the system provides visual and audible warnings through the configured panel and alarms.

Respond

Configured interfaces can initiate ventilation, isolation-valve operation or emergency shutdown and report events to plant automation systems.

Connected monitoring and control

Components selected around your installation and safety design

Dual-channel gas detection control panel with two digital displays
Gas detection controller — panel reference

The system brings field detection, local alarms and plant interfaces together. Panel capacity and interfaces are matched to the monitoring points and required alarm actions.

Typical system components

  • Fixed gas detectors selected for the target gas
  • Gas detection control panel
  • Hooter and strobe alarm
  • Manual call point, where required
  • Junction boxes and cabling
  • PLC/SCADA interface
  • Emergency shutdown (ESD) integration, where configured

Monitoring matched to the gas risk

Combustible-gas and toxic-gas monitoring require the appropriate sensors and configuration. The pictured H₂S device illustrates a toxic-gas detector; it does not define the sensing capability of every system.

Benefits for plant operations

  • Early leak warnings support timely intervention and help reduce fire and explosion risk.
  • Continuous monitoring and configured event logging support operational visibility.
  • Integration with plant automation helps coordinate alarms and safety actions.
  • Correctly specified equipment supports the installation’s applicable safety requirements.
